Shahid Kapoor and Pooja Hegde’s starrer actioner Deva is all set to release on January 31, 2025. The film recently underwent scrutiny by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with several suggested modifications.
As per reports, the film has been granted a U/A certificate, along with the trimming of a steaming kissing scene between Pooja and Shahid.
Directed by Rosshan Andrrews, the other mandated changes suggested by the board are the removal of “foul gestures” that have been either replaced or removed entirely, sadly impacting both dialogues and subtitles. Another change involves indecent words regarding a reference to Hutatma Chowk, a historical landmark in Mumbai’s Fort area.
Regarding the kissing scene, it was reduced to six seconds to meet certification guidelines. Following these edits, the film’s runtime now remains at 2 hours, 36 minutes, and 59 seconds.
Talking about Deva, it marks Shahid Kapoor’s return to the action genre, where he plays the role of a fearless cop caught up between justice and rebellion. Pooja Hegde will be seen as a journalist and Shahid’s love interest. The movie also stars Pavel Gulati, Pravesh Rana, and Kubra Sait in key roles.
